SOCIAL MEDIA

As a news source and the most followed Gretna East social media account, I devote time to making sure the GEM social media accounts are not only the first on announcements but that we’re the most accurate. By leveraging my role as Student Council President, I provide The Wingspan with an exclusive “inside scoop” on game themes, spirit weeks and our other school initiatives. I also prioritize fact-checking with administration, followed by fast, high-quality design execution. This dual-role strategy ensures that Gretna East Media is consistently the first to report, turning breaking news into engaging, shareable content.

YEARBOOK

In my short stint as the Production Manager of the Guardian Yearbook, I helped with distribution, promotion and design. While much of my editorial leadership focused on photography and storytelling, I found a love of layout design, recognizing that these pages were going to be historical records of the school year.

STORY PAGES

While I love the rush of posting a story on The Wingspan, I also thoroughly enjoy the process of designing it within Student Newspapers Online (SNO). I work to maximize the story’s emotional and visual impact through photo placement, infographic usage and formatting. We also use opinion disclaimers, clearly marked in red, so our audience does not misinterpret opinion with fact.
